Adding a Smart Light to my Smart House – Video

Artboard 1
It is Thursday, which means a new Home Automation Video is out on my Youtube Channel!  If you haven’t subscribed yet, be sure to head over there and click subscribe; it would be very much appreciated.

This week’s video is all about replacing a crappy fluorescent hallway light in my smart home with a Hue white smart light.   In the video, you will get a glimpse of my Home Automation set up using Home Assistant (pre-Lovelace UI though, I really need to get to that eventually to clean up the interface) and I’ll also spend some time adding the new light to Home Assistant.  This is part one of a two part series.  In the next video, we will add the new light to all the Home Assistant automations leveraging the door sensors.  The door sensors I will be using will be a combination of ZWave door sensors and my existing alarm system contacts.  These types of sensors allow me to really do some pretty sophisticated automations in general around the house.  Of course, all the code is always up to date and available on my Github Repo.

Happy Automating!

Carlo
