The Weekly Digest Is Back: Smart Home Automation Ideas from My Home Assistant Config
The weekly digest is back for my Home Assistant configuration repo, giving you a weekly way to follow new automations, resolved issues, commit activity, and smart home ideas you can adapt for your own setup.

I used to have a simple way for people to keep up with what was changing in my Home Assistant configuration repo, and somewhere along the way that weekly rhythm faded out. It is back now as a single weekly digest issue.
Why bring the weekly digest back?
The hardest part of building a smart home is not always wiring up the automation. A lot of the time, the hard part is coming up with the next useful idea. The digest gives you a compact weekly view of what changed, what got closed, and what is evolving in the project.
Each weekly issue is meant to be a source of inspiration. You can scan the commits, open issues, closed issues, and project notes, then borrow the pieces that make sense for your own setup.
What is inside the digest?
- New issues and ideas being researched
- Resolved items and cleanup work
- Commit activity from the week
- Signals about where the smart home project is heading next
The first restored digest is already live here: Weekly Digest (9 May, 2026 – 16 May, 2026).
Follow along on GitHub
If you want to keep up with the project, star the repo on GitHub. That is the easiest way to follow the weekly digest and see how the configuration changes over time.
I will also be putting out more short videos explaining the ideas behind the automations, not just the finished YAML. The goal is to make the project useful as both a working smart home config and a steady source of ideas for your own home.
