From the personal archive: the 2024 Halloween costume, soundtrack, and a very unofficial Olympic recruitment pitch.
Join the Australian Olympic Breakdance Revolution!
Have you ever tapped your foot to a song in the background? What about nodded your head with the beat?
If so, we’re looking to recruit you for the Olympics to represent Australia in 2028.
Our 2024 Halloween costume pitch. Strictly for fun.
The soundtrack
The 2024 costume jokes
- Did you know kangaroos can't walk backwards? Just like my Olympic career, there’s no going back once you commit.
- Australia was the birthplace of the boomerang! Unlike my Olympic dreams, which didn’t come back after 2024.
- Breakdancing was added as an Olympic sport in 2024… and removed faster than my hopes of winning gold.
- In a shocking twist, they realized ‘Kangaroo Hops’ don’t really scream ‘Olympic glory’ – so here I am, retired at the peak of my one-move career.
- Fun fact: In Australia, they still consider Vegemite a better national treasure than my footwork. Fair dinkum.
- Koalas sleep 20 hours a day. Probably because they can’t bear to watch me breakdance.
- Australia is home to some of the world’s deadliest animals… and its most dangerous dance routines. Turns out both are lethal.
- The Great Barrier Reef is visible from space! My dance moves, unfortunately, not so much.
- Australia has more kangaroos than people, and even they didn’t show up to watch me ‘represent’ on the Olympic floor.
- Did you know that in 1932, emus defeated the Australian army? Don’t worry, they’d still have beaten me in a dance-off.
